Propolis, also known as "bee glue," has its origins in the Greek words "Pro" and "Polis," meaning "in front of" and "body of citizens," respectively. This name reflects its purpose at the entrance of the beehive. Honey bees use propolis to narrow the entrance, making it easier to defend against predators.
